Being somewhat devoid of inspiration at the moment I have been exploring some old photographs. What strikes me is the link between photography and memory. Looking at these shots brings back memories not just of the pictures being taken, but of journeys, companions and times in one’s life. I took this photo while on a road trip from East London in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, to Johannesburg in (what is today called) Gauteng (then Transvaal), in 1977. Kodachrome is, of course, now defunct, like an analogue dinosaur in the digital age.
